a series of multichannel acousmatic compositions
CONTENTS • RESEARCH |
While composed for a variety of forces, in each piece the speakers are arranged equally in a circle surrounding the audience, and the spatial language consists of peripheral, rotational, oppositional and envelopment activities and relationships (in contrast to left/right and back/front as in stereo setups and tradiitional acousmatic concert diffusion). The works should therefore be spatially and musically coherent irrespective of audience position or orientation, even if subjective weightings (relative levels) of front, sides and rear, and the positions/trajectories of spatial gestures may differ according to where within the circle a listener happens to be.
